Well Women Wednesday’s: Kim McPherson
Meet Kim, a.k.a The Well Nurse.
I was first introduced to Kim almost two years ago now, during my Health Coaching training at IIN (Institute for Integrative Nutrition). We actually hooked up as coaching mentors for one another during the course of the program. This woman absolutely walks her talk. She has been there and knows that feeling, listened to her inner calling and is now living a life of her dreams.
Now, helping other women to find their passion and lead healthier, happier lives through her one- on- one coaching, private retreats, yoga and meditation coaching and weight-loss cleansing program.
How did you find your way on this path?
I originally set out on a career of nursing to help people. I don’t think I knew it at them time but I wanted to serve others, then throughout my nursing career I felt a little helpless and didn’t feel like I was actually helping others, more delaying the inevitable…. So I knew I wanted to spend my time in preventative health, to be able to teach others to recognize when their bodies are out of balance, and to heal others with food and cleansing.
What does your typical day look like?
My morning routine does not change no matter if I am travelling or what my schedule is like. I oil pull first thing, whilst I am doing this I journal, write my gratitude list and go over what I have planned for the day then have a nourishing breakfast.
From here on my days differ, I set out to move my body daily whether its yoga, weight training or walking. I also set out to meditate once or twice a day. BUT if this does not happen I have learned to go easy on myself and accept this.
I still do 1-2 nursing shifts per week, plus teach yoga, write blogs, see or speak to health coaching clients on the phone, but my real passion is helping others during a 30 day cleanse and set up their own online business.
What are your non-negotiable daily practices?
1) Meditate at least once a day. This does not mean I sit in lotus position for hours, a quick 5 minute manifesting guided meditation counts for me too. I often do a yoga nidra style of meditation at night which puts me into a blissful sleep!
2) I also make sure I am drinking plenty of water and nourish my body to the best of my intentions. Throughout the years I have learned to listen to my body and figure out the best way of eating is for me, which is non-negotiable!!!
3) Chocolate, seriously, cacao every day!
What does your day look like on a plate?
Today I had my fave protein shake (chocolate) before yoga, then had a chia pudding when I got back. Lunch is usually veggies with some sort of protein (eggs, fish, etc), dinner is the same. I snack on nuts and cacao beans, plenty of green tea. I’ll often have dark chocolate, homemade or bought. I enjoy a glass of red with friends too. My diet is in no way strict, I don’t feel deprived of anything anymore and find eating well easy to do, this shouldn’t be hard but sometimes we all need a little guidance in this area.
What lights you up?
Seeing one of my clients radially transform their health, is bouncing out of bed in the morning, knowing that she is sleeping properly for the first time in years and has given up smoking. Knowing that her quality of life has improved enormously makes me want to jump out of my skin with excitement!!!
What’s your favourite way to relax & unwind?
Yoga and meditation, for sure. It has changed my world.
What do the words “Love, Light, Wellness” mean to you?
Being free. Being free to be exactly what you were put on this earth to be, being your most authentic self and listening to that voice inside of you that says ‘do it’.
